Doc playtests Patricks EEF Campaign 1915-18 at 100%

I went for the advised cavalry core + 1 Inf. It were the 3 cav units that did all the work and reached the VHs well within BV limit. I enjoyed the scenario a lot. This is a great combination of WW1...

That's the kind of core I also usually play with. 1-Terminator has tried it with an infantry core. He had problems getting a BV with such a slow core, but if you don't play too bad you will at least...

Agagia I'll post the core report tonight. This was a small scale scenario (you have to have these - I am not so good making enough of them in a campaign) where I got an easy BV. What I loved were the...

Of cause you're right with unit 006, it should be the other way around. Thanks! I will change the BV limit and strenghten the Bedouin cavalry I think, because sometimes I also get a very easy BV here....

Medean Pass Bought another horse aty because I only had one. Put the cav group on the desert flank and the infantry group on the coastal road. That was a good move. The cavalry group had an easy time...

Yes, splitting your core - the cavalry on the desert flank, infantry along the coast - is important here. I tried to give the player the little hint by placing the aux Camel Corps company in the...

Romani Bought the biggest high ammo gun possible with the 600pp. I love the scenario - the situation is hopeless at the start and slowly gets better. The few German and Austrian units spice up the...

Yes, you applied the right tactics to take Katia. Frontal assaults through the oasis in sight of several Turkish MG nests cannot be recommended. Encircle and attack from east, that's what works best,...

I agree with Steve.. Never assume that players use in-scenario prestige to refit units when playtesting, UNLESS it's a potential core killer scenario where you absolutely have to refit units in order...

Magdhaba Bought 2 more inf that turned out to be very usefull given that my horsies are pretty useless against fortifications. I thought I had enough turns to whipe out the whole camp, so the inf...

Are only the Turkish troops killed count towards the Killed Total? Not the all nations ones?

Re: Doc playtests Patricks EEF Campaign 1915-18 at 100%

The All Nations units that I used are all in the fortification class (like snipers, MG Positions, bunkers), so they are not counted at all. In the whole Magdhaba scenario there are only 9 (!) original...

On the first try I bought another inf and threw everything against the hill. Obviously I came too late for a BV, so I replayed, this time OS-ing all units and making better use of cav vs inf units....

Re: Doc playtests Patricks EEF Campaign 1915-18 at 100%

Yes, I think this is a scenario where OS-ing is really useful. Hill 255 is quite a tough nut to crack. But you haven't seen the El-Magruntein Hill at Gaza yet. I can't really remember why I set the...

First Gaza Pretty brutal but doable. Although I lost a weakened core inf that was guarding a VH and was surprised by a counterattack that I underestimated. I exchanged the remaining 2 horsed inf by...

Really brutal. Forget about being able to save most units from destruction. A blind charge is doomed to fail. You have to think a bit and position MG and ATY units and pick the right moment of attack....

Ehm...Well... Of cause there shouldn't be such a thing like "Self-healing barbed wire". I consider this scenario the toughest of my campaign. And it's the one closest to western front trench warfare.

This campaign is still in the playtesting phase. Once the suggestions of the honourable gentlemen who volunteered for playtesting have been implemented, an improved first version will be published. If...
